Director
The old inns were places where travellers arrived to eat and rest well. Without sumptuousness, familiar and close, and with the best food made with whatever the land produced on the season. But, most of all, well done and rooted on the culture and territory. MON Restaurant & Fonda, by the renowned Menorcan chef Felip Llufriu, uses this word to describe the philosophy of this welcoming food house in the old town of Ciutadella. A simple and small restaurant, with personal proposals, where diners, in addition to enjoying a unique gastronomic offer, can stay in one of the eight rooms of this old Menorcan manor house of deco style, whose essence was preserved.
MON Restaurant & Fonda was born on 2014 when, after years of work and development in some of the best restaurants of the country and of the world, Felip Llufriu returns to his native Ciutadella to undertake a project to recover the gastronomic memory of the island. This restaurant highlights the Menorcan-Balearic tradition and unites it with the avant-garde of haute cuisine. An exploration of its origins and influences based on the most noble food of the island: local vegetables, high-quality local beef and fish of the day.
“We run away from the classic concept of a hotel and bet on the simplicity behind the concept of inn: gastronomy, well-being and rest.”
FELIP LLUFRIU
