Bini Aumaia is a 100-hectare family-run farm located less than 1 km from the town of Es Mercadal. A manor house and several plots of green pasture give shape to this livestock operation found on the slopes of Monte Toro mountain, the highest peak in Menorca. On the farm, Gabi and Joan have been rearing and fattening beef cattle for nearly 10 years now.
Throughout the year, seventy suckler cows graze freely about the family’s fields with their young, who nurse for 7 months feeding on their mother’s colostrum. Their care and feeding, based on pasture, grain and fodder from the farm, are the key to achieving flavourful, high quality beef.
The work carried out at Bini Aumaia does not only translate into a superior product, with its animal welfare guarantee seal, but is also one of the activities that has shaped Menorca’s traditional landscape and allows for the conservation of its natural and cultural assets.
