MEET THE CENTRAL FIGURES

Joan Gomila

Manager

Located in the heart of the city, Es Celleret de Maó is the sister shop of Es Celleret de Cas Comte in Ciutadella, also a small business that offers typical Menorcan products. Following their success in Ciutadella, Joan Gomila, the owner, decided to try his luck in Maó by offering the very best selection of artisanal products from the island.

The considerable variety of foodstuffs at this shop come from small agricultural operations selected for the quality of their products, for preserving their production techniques and recipes, and for helping to conserve the intangible heritage of Menorcan gastronomy. Like its counterpart in Ciutadella, the selection found at Es Celleret de Maó includes products from farms located in the shop’s vicinity, and you will therefore find different products depending on where you go.

Cheese, sobrassada, wine, olive oil, gin, salt, preserves, honey, beer, aromatic herbs, Menorcan saffron and of course, artisanal sweets from Sa Sucreria, master confectioners since 1875. A true journey through Menorca’s gastronomic tradition.

“At Es Celleret, we introduce our customers to part of our culture and many of the producers that keep it alive.”

JOAN GOMILA, MANAGER
