Small-scaled and modest, the Binissaida dels Barracons is one of the most innovative ecological and regenerative farming projects in Menorca. Patrick de la Chesnais purchased this abandoned farm four years ago and has turned it into an exemplary model for sustainable farming.
The Binissaida dels Barracons land covers just over 5,000 m2, where Lola and Francisco grow their crops through a biointensive farming system, a method that allows for greater production in less space. The results are beneficial both for improved soil fertility as well as in product quality; both healthier and more nutritious.
Ecological crop production at Binissaida dels Barracons is focused primarily on self-supply and sales through mixed vegetable baskets or as suppliers for restaurants of haute cuisine, while continuously striving for the highest quality produce and prioritising local varieties.
