MEET THE CENTRAL FIGURES

Cristina Lozano

Promoter

Cristina and Daniel have a 40 years old link to the island. Childhood, summers, time living or visiting… It was not difficult for these two friends to decide on the “preserved jewel” of the Mediterranean to undertake their first project together. Cristine Bedfor Guest Houses, in the centre of Maó, is a bet on local products, and to offer its guests a stay connected to the territory, to its culture, to its history and cuisine.

From the cuisine, by the hand of Ses Forquilles and with local and seasonal produce, to its proposed activities, the project of this boutique hotel seeks to involve visitors in the life and environment of the island throughout the year. Two historic buildings in the Infanta street connected by a spectacular garden are the setting for their proposal in 21 unique rooms. Each room tells a different story.

The project includes an ambitious waste management plant, does not use plastic products and integrates reuse and recycling of materials in their practices: restored tableware and furniture, or carpets and clothes from recycled materials. A 25,000-litre cistern feeds the garden, and they have joined the Menorca Preservation Fund to endorse “Dream Global, Eat Local” to promote local product.

“Linking visitors of the island’s life implies deseasonalizing. Menorca has a lot to offer throughout the year.”
