Prickly pear, Sant Joan pear or Menorca’s melon ice creams… These are some of the flavours that can be found alongside the classics at La Casa del Gelato, a must stop in the port of Maó. For 25 years Laura Demurtas and her family have run this unique Italian ice cream shop under three pillars: respect for the product, costumer care and the protection of the territory. An integral work that takes ice cream production a little further, unifying the Italian technique and tradition with the local product of Menorca.

Years of experiments with the best raw material guarantee their product, one of the most recognized ice creams of the island. Made with 100% quality certified Menorcan milk and only with fruits from the farms they work with. Their menu changes daily, depending on the season. Let yourself be advised by Laura, who knows how the fruit has grown, how the last batch of milk is and which flavour will be particularly tasty today.

Their commitment with km0 has led them to reduce their impact to a minimum. They use water and electricity efficiently, have a low-impact certified refrigeration system and do not use plastics: the spoons, bowls and take-away containers, among others, are compostable. Ice cream is a treat, and as such should be enjoyed. Best if it is a product from Menorca, healthy, natural and respectful.

“Ice cream is a treat, and as such should be enjoyed. I like to think that we’ve been working for 25 years to provide these moments.”
