For Ralf and Jutta, the island of Menorca is something of a kaleidoscope: the closer you look, the more you discover. Their love for the island was not at first sight, but was instead love at “second sight”, although much deeper, around the 1990s. Since then and over the last 30 years, they have been continually surprised by their many discoveries along the island’s tracks and trails.

They met here while working as tour guides, and decided to call it their home and create Xauxa Menorca, the seed that would become RutasMenorca, the project through which they divulge Menorca’s culture, history and landscape through hiking. They were pioneers in introducing visitors to the island’s true life, offering a much more up close and personal look at local agri-livestock operations than had been available at the time. They now hope to minimise the seasonal nature of their offer to show the island as it is only known by locals; the green Menorca that breathes placid calm.

They specialise in slow tourism; learning to stop and be take notice, to slow down and discover the Menorca that will never be found in travel guides.
