ABOUT EL FARO DE CALA TORRET

El Faro de Cala Torret, a restaurant located on Menorca’s southeast coast, is a gastronomic project founded by friends and business partners Benet Guàrdia and Pedro José Sánchez. Together they decided to reconvert an earlier project into what it is today: a restaurant with Menorcan and Mediterranean cuisine.

El Faro de Cala Torret, a restaurant located on Menorca’s southeast coast, is a gastronomic project founded by friends and business partners Benet Guàrdia and Pedro José Sánchez. Together they decided to reconvert an earlier project into what it is today: a restaurant with Menorcan and Mediterranean cuisine.

On their spectacular terrace with sea views, tradition is served up with local and zero-kilometre produce, a combination that brings to the table resuscitated recipes like oliaigua, perols or stuffed Menorcan-style squid, not to mention of course their lobster, rice dishes, local meats and top-quality fish and seafood. Their suppliers are part of the local Agroxerxa group or the Cooperativa del Camp co-op, among others, all skilfully prepared by two top culinary professionals: Lluís Montiel, Menorcan, once chef of the highly missed restaurant Rocamar, and Ricardo Estévez, Galician, specialist in rice dishes and Galician octopus, of course!

In parallel with their gastronomic activity, El Faro de Cala Torret is also dedicated to minimising environmental impact and improved energy efficiency. In addition to the Biosphere Reserve brand, the project has the “Plastic Free” distinction reducing single-use plastic by 80%, and a modern and efficient water treatment system that has allowed them to fully eliminate plastic bottles. They have recently installed 20 solar panels, to produce green energy and contribute to reducing global warming.

This company carries out its business activities in accordance with numerous criteria for the protection of Menorca’s environment, identity and culture, and is exemplary in the following:

Use of local produce

Makes use of local farm-to-table produce in its supply and production and prioritises produce from farms and fisheries that implement practices that are respectful with the environment.

Traditional recipes and gastronomy

Makes use of traditional Menorcan recipes and gastronomic knowledge and conserves ancestral flavours, dishes and culinary practices passed down on the island from generation to generation.

Efficient energy consumption

Prioritises an energy model based on the reduction of pollutant emissions via the reduction of energy consumption, the procurement of energy through renewable sources and its use in an efficient fashion.
